  1. Thank you everyone for the very helpful replys. It seems to me that awhile back tho things were simpler. I don't remember putting any RV anti freeze in our campers or trailers back in the 60's & even the 70's & I don't remember having any problems with things freezing. Wish I knew what it was that my husband used to do back then. MyToyota RV is a 1983 with no by-pass system. My question is, if anyone remembers, what did we do before by-pass & RV antifreeze to keep our RV's from freezing??? Anyone out there old enough to know??? Thanks heaps for any ideas!!!!!!
  2. This is my first winter with my 1983 toy MH. I live in the high dessert & nights get well below freezing often. Two different shops told me two different things. One said I must have a bypass setup installed for hot water heater protection (or put 7 gals of anti freeze in it). The second one said that was not necessary, they would just drain the hot water heater & put the anti freeze in the usual areas. Any suggestions at all would be very much appreciated. My plan is also to cover my RV with a tarp & not a full RV cover. We get very little rain, just occasional snow. Thank you!!!!!!!
  3. Thanks everyone for your great ideas. I just returned from a 3 day camping trip. Not only did I smell the propane, but when I opened the fridge a really awful smell came from it, down by the bottom. Fridge was clean & no spoiled food. So now I'm beginning to regret my purchase! I have a guy coming out tp my house next week to check it all out. I really like the idea for pulling out the stove to check for leaks. Next (if necessary) I'll try a propane shop. Don't understand why the speciality RV service shops can't figure this out!!!! Thanks, again, for all your suggestions. I'm listening!!!!!!!
  4. I jus bought a 1982/83 Toyota Minilite in great condition with only 35K miles. Everything inside in original condition, barely worn at all. Outside looks great too. The only problem is I smell propane inside . I've taken it to 2 different RV service depts & had it checked. Both places show no leaks. They put the leak gauge on it, sprayed foam to look for leaks & tightened everything inside & out. Yet, I still smell gas about 45 min after I turn on the propane. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!! I'm brand new at RVing too!
